Planning Worksheet for FlashRay™ Setup Wizard

This worksheet is provided for you to gather configuration information. You can fill out this HTML form or print a copy to fill out. Refer to it when responding to the prompts from the Setup Wizard. (Values recorded on the worksheet are not checked for errors and cannot be exported to the wizard.) Press the Tab key, not Enter, to move from one input field to the next.

Use this button instead of your browser's Print command to print the worksheet. If you want to save your input in this worksheet to a file, select the Microsoft XPS Document Writer in the system print dialog box displayed by this button. Your browser's Save command cannot save the input in an HTML form.

Information for cluster creation

System serial number: If you have not recorded the system serial number when installing the controller, locate the number on the System Serial Number label on the back of the FlashRay chassis. You need this number to identify your controller when the Setup Wizard discovers FlashRay controllers on the network.

Basic cluster information Cluster name contains 2 to 63 characters, which can be uppercase or lowercase letters A through Z (case sensitive), digits from 0 through 9, and the hyphen (-). The first and last characters must not be a hyphen.

Networking information

The cluster management IP address is for the e0M interface. Through this interface, you can connect to the cluster with SSH, HTTP, or HTTPS, or send REST commands to the cluster. The form of an IPv4 address and subnet mask is x.x.x.x, where x is an 8-bit octet.

The Service Processor (SP) is a hardware component on the controller that serves as a remote management device. It enables you to access, monitor, and troubleshoot the storage system remotely through an IP address. If you do not specify an address, the SP is assigned an address through DHCP.

AutoSupport information AutoSupport is a Mars OS feature that collects system health information and sends messages to NetApp. You can enable or disable the transmission of AutoSupport messages to NetApp. These messages are used by NetApp technical support to help you analyze and optimize your storage infrastructure. If you disable the transmission of AutoSupport messages, you have to manually send diagnostic data to NetApp when you have a problem with the system.

Information for LUN creation and mapping (optional)

The following information is required only if you want to create LUNs at setup time. For hosts to access the LUNs, you must create an initiator group with the hosts as members. After you create the LUNs and initiator groups, you can map the LUNs. The Setup Wizard limits the number of LUNs, but you can create more after setup time.

LUN information Choose a LUN name that describes how the LUN is used, such as the name of the application. LUN name contains up to 255 characters, which can be uppercase or lowercase letters A through Z (case-sensitive), digits from 0 through 9, hyphens (-), underscores (_), periods (.), colon (:), and braces ({}). Spaces are not allowed.
LUN size is specified in bytes, kibibytes, mebibytes, gibibytes, or tebibytes. Minimum is 512 bytes; maximum is 64 tebibytes. LUN size can be increased, but not decreased, later.

Initiator group information Name of the initiator group to which the LUNs are mapped. It contains up to 96 characters, which can be uppercase or lowercase letters A through Z (case-sensitive), digits from 0 through 9, hyphens (-), underscores (_), periods (.), and braces ({}). Spaces are not allowed.
Operating system type used by the hosts. All hosts in the initiator group must use the same operating system.
Members of the initiator group are represented by their WWPNs, which you can specify in all common syntaxes (for example, 0011223344556677 and 00-11-22-33-44-55-66-77). Space is limited to three WWPNs here but you can specify more than three WWPNs in the Setup Wizard.
