The actions generated by the NearStore VTL are displayed along with a message. Although informative, these messages tend to be terse. When required actions are listed in the interface, they are identified as low, medium, or high priority. They are also organized into classes that identify which part of the system has an issue.
The first digit of the action code represents the status of the action. They correspond to the GOOD (1), WARNING (2), and ERROR (3) lights on the STATUS INDICATOR in the upper portion on the interface.
GOOD—when the action code starts with the digit 1, your system is still fully functional. In this case, it is not necessary for you to resolve the action immediately. For example: action 1101 recommends that you load a physical tape into a physical tape drive.
WARNING—if the action code starts with the digit 2, either a specific operation has failed, some component of your system is not operational, or your attached disks are running out of space. For example, action 2300 warns that the disks attached to your system are nearing their capacity. This action should be resolved in the near future.
ERROR—when the action code starts with the digit 3, your system no longer functions properly. You must resolve the action immediately. For example: action 3501 specifies that your configuration storage area (vstore) is full. This means that no configuration information can be saved until this action is resolved.
