Advanced Single Instance Storage (ASIS) helps you optimize disk space usage by eliminating duplicate data blocks on a flexible volume. Under ASIS, Data ONTAP stores only a single instance of unique data blocks. This feature applies only to SnapVault for NetBackup volumes.
Note: The ASIS license requires the use of the SnapVault ONTAP secondary license on the same system. If the storage system is not a NearStore R200 system, the ASIS license also requires the use of the NearStore Option license.
A software license is required to enable ASIS. You are provided with the appropriate license code when your storage system is shipped from the factory or when you are given instructions for obtaining the software over the Internet.
