Enable DNS

Select the check box to enable DNS on the storage system.

DNS enables you to maintain host information centrally. As a result, you do not have to update the /etc/hosts file every time you add a new host to the network. If you have several storage systems on your network, maintaining host information centrally saves you from updating the /etc/hosts file on each system every time you add or delete a host.

Cluster considerations

For takeover to occur properly in a cluster, DNS must be enabled on both systems or on neither system and the domain name must be the same on both systems.
