Hosts

If you are using more than one method for host name resolution, you need to specify the order in which you want Data ONTAP to search for host information. By default, host information is searched in the following order:

1. /etc/hosts file

2. NIS

3. DNS

If NIS and DNS are not enabled or if you select files as the first source to search for host information, be sure to maintain the /etc/hosts file so that Data ONTAP can resolve host names used in any of the following files:

• /etc/rc

• /etc/syslog.confg

• /etc/dgateways

• /etc/exports

• /etc/netgroup

• /etc/hosts.equiv
