Filer Routing

Although the storage system can have multiple network interfaces, it does not function as a router. The storage system does not route packets between its interfaces on behalf of other network hosts; however, it can route its own packets. For routing its own packets, the storage system relies on explicit routes and default routes.

Typically, the storage system learns explicit routes through icmp redirect messages received from the default router; you do not need to enter explicit routes in the storage system routing table.
