The Manage FlexClone volumes page displays information about FlexClone volumes on the storage system, including status, parent volumes, containing aggregate, split status, and estimated size should the FlexClone be split from its parent and become an independent volume. From this page, you can split a FlexClone from its parent volume.
At some point, you might want to split your FlexClone and its parent into two independent volumes that occupy their own disk space.
Attention: When you split a FlexClone from its parent, all existing snapshots of the FlexClone are deleted.
Because the split operation is a copy operation that might take considerable time to carry out, you can use the Manage FlexClone volumes page to check the status of a split operation or stop the split altogether. The split operation proceeds in the background and does not interfere with data access to either the parent or the FlexClone volume.
If you take the FlexClone offline while the splitting operation is in progress, the operation is suspended; when you bring the FlexClone back online, the splitting operation resumes.
Once a FlexClone and its parent volume have been split, they cannot be rejoined.
