Configure Snapshot Copies |
The Configure Snapshots page enables you to modify the Snapshot copy schedule.
Each storage system volume and aggregate can retain up to 255 Snapshot copies. When you create a new volume or aggregate on a storage system, the new volume or aggregate inherits the Snapshot copy schedule from the root volume. After several days, check how much disk space the Snapshot copies consume. If the disk space seems high, you can decrease the amount of time that Snapshot copies are kept or increase the Snapshot copy reserve. As you use Snapshot copies, continue to watch the statistics change over time. The statistics help you gain a better understanding of how Snapshot copies work.
Note: It is not recommended that you use scheduled Snapshot copies to replicate LUNs on a regular basis, because multiple LUNs from different hosts can exist on the same WAFL volume. For more information on LUNs, see your Data ONTAP Block Access Management Guide.
