NAME

exportfs - export and unexport directories and files

SYNOPSIS

exportfs [ -aiuv ] [ -o options ] [ pathname ]

DESCRIPTION

If no pathname is specified, exportfs lists all currently exported directories and filenames. If pathname is specified, exportfs will make the directory or file specified by pathname available for mounting over the network by NFS clients.

OPTIONS

-a Export all pathnames listed in /etc/exports, or if -u is specified, unexport all of the currently exported pathnames. If pathname is also specified, the -a option is ignored.

-i
Ignore the options in /etc/exports. Normally, exportfs uses the options associated with the pathname specified in /etc/exports, if available.

-u
Unexport the specified pathname.

-v
Print each pathname as it is exported or unexported.

-o options
Specify a comma-separated list of options for the pathname being exported. options can be any of the following:

access=hostname[:hostname]...
Restrict access to the hosts listed. A netgroup defined in /etc/netgroup can be specified in place of a hostname for this option.

anon=uid
If a request comes from user ID of 0 (root user ID on the client), use uid as the effective user ID unless the client host is included in the root option below. The default value is 65534. Setting the value of "anon" to 65535 disables all root access. A value of 0 grants root access to all clients.

ro Export the pathname read-only. If not specified, pathname is exported read/write.

rw=hostname[:hostname]...
Export the pathname read-only to all hosts not specified in the list and read-write to the hosts in the list. Netgroup names are not allowed in the list.

root=hostname[:hostname]...
Give root access only to the specified hosts. The default is for no hosts to be granted root access. Netgroup names are not allowed in the list.

FILES

/etc/exports
directories and files exported to NFS clients
/etc/hosts
host name data base
/etc/netgroup
network groups data base

BUGS

Data ONTAP supports a maximum of 50 hostnames in each rw= and root= option. There is no limit on the number of hostnames in an individual access= list, but the total size of /etc/exports is limited to about 64 KB.
