Hosts Service
The filer resolves host names by searching maps (or databases) for services to use. The filer tries name resolution services in a default order (files, NIS, DNS) or in the order that you specify. For each map (database), the filer uses your first choice of service. If the name is not resolved using the first service, it uses the second service, if the name is still not resolved, it uses your third choice of service (if available). You can specify any combination of the following name services:
- Files--directs filer to search the files in the /etc directory
- NIS--directs filer to search NIS maps if NIS is enabled
- DNS--directs the filer to search a DNS server if DNS is enabled
The "Host Services" field specifies the order in which the filer searches for host names and their associated IP addresses. Fie, NIS, and DNS services are available selections.
Psswd Service

Shadow Service
Specifies the order in which the filer searches for encrypted password strings and password aging information in CIFS and (PC) NFS environments. File and NIS services are available selections.
Group Service
Specifies the order in which the filer searches for CIFS group names, GIDs, and members' names in CIFS environments. Files and NIS services are available selections.
Netgroup Service
Specifies the order in which the filer searches for network groups in NFS environments. Files and NIS services are available selections.
