NFS exports (/etc/exports)
This window allows you to view and edit the /etc/exports file. The /etc/exports file contains a list of path names that the filer can export and the hosts or subnets that can access them.
For each exported path, the window provides the following information:
- The path name of the volume, directory, or file to be exported.
- The type of access-read only (ro) or read and write (rw)-that specified hosts are granted for the exported path.
- The anonymous user identification number. If a request comes from user with a UID of 0 (root user ID on the client), use UID as the effective user ID unless the client host is included in the root option. The default value is 65534, which disables all root access. A value of 0 grants root access to all clients.
- The comments associated with the exported path.
- The hosts and subnets that can mount the path, and the hosts and subnets that can mount the path with root privileges.
This window also provides buttons that allow you to create a new exported path, modify information for an existing exported path, and delete an existing exported path. The window provides the following buttons:
- Reload. Click this button to reload the existing /etc/exports file from the filer.
- Save. Click this button to save the changes to the /etc/exports file. Changes to the file take effect after you reboot the filer.
- Insert Line. Click anywhere in the display box and click Insert Line to add a path to the /etc/exports file.
- Add Option. Click the appropriate path in the display box and click Add Option to add a list of hosts and subnets for the exports directory or file. You can specify up to 256 host names for each directory with root and rw privileges. There is no limit to the number of hosts with access privileges, provided that each line in the /etc/exports file has no more than 1024 characters. Use net groups for lists that would otherwise result in lines longer than 1024 characters.
- Modify. Click the appropriate path in the display box and click Modify to modify the information for a path in the /etc/exports file, or click the host in the display box and click Modify to modify the information for the host that has access to the exported path.
- Delete. Click the appropriate path in the display box and click Delete to delete a path from the /etc/exports file, or click the appropriate host in the display box and click Delete to prevent the host from having access to the path.
