Rsh access (/etc/hosts.equiv)

This window allows you to view and edit the /etc/hosts.equiv file. The filer reads the /etc/hosts.equiv file to get a list of hosts and users on the host that are allowed access to the filer through a remote shell (rsh) connection.

The window provides the following information about the hosts and users in the /etc/hosts.equiv file:

• Host/IP: The name or the IP address of the host to be given rsh permission.
• User (on host): The name of the user on the host to be given rsh permission.
• Comment: The comments associated with the hosts/users in the /etc/hosts.equiv file.

This window provides buttons that allow you to add new hosts and users, and to modify or delete hosts from the /etc/hosts.equiv file. The window provides the following buttons:

• Reload. Click this button to reload the existing /etc/hosts.equiv file from the filer.
• Save. Click this button to save the changes to the /etc/hosts.equiv file. Changes to the file take effect immediately.

  NOTE: Reboot the filer after changing any /etc file to make sure the new configuration works correctly.

• Insert. Click anywhere in the display box and click Insert to add a new host to the /etc/hosts.equiv file.
• Modify. Click the appropriate host in the display box and click Modify to modify the information for the host in the /etc/hosts.equiv file.
• Delete. Click the appropriate host in the display box and click Delete to delete a host from the /etc/hosts.equiv file.
