Configuring dedicated and hot standby interfaces
Description
This procedure describes how to configure a pair of interfaces so that the hot standby interface can replace a dedicated interface on the other filer in the cluster if one filer fails and is taken over. You do this when converting or installing a filer or when you are adding network connections to a cluster. When you complete this procedure, on both filers, you will have a hot standby NIC that can take over the network connection of a dedicated NIC on the other filer if there is a takeover.
Prerequisites
You must have available the following items:
- Four single MAC-address interfaces or ATM adapter interfaces, two on each filer in the cluster
- Two IP addresse or ATM interface names, the addresses of one interface or ATM interface name on each filer in the cluster
