Use this procedure to return to the creation of directories in pre-Data ONTAP 4.0 format. You can do this at any time, perhaps to save space because pre-4.0 format uses slightly less space than Unicode format.
After you complete this procedure, the filer returns to creating all directories in pre-4.0 format when created by NFS, and only the first CIFS access converts a directory to Unicode format. CIFS still creates directories in Unicode as usual.
This procedure does not change the format of existing directories.
To return to the default creation of pre-Data ONTAP 4.0 format directories, complete the following step.
