Chapter 22

SecureAdmin management

SecureAdmin overview

What SecureAdmin does

The SecureAdminTM feature enables you to use encrypted passwords and login names to administer filers. When encrypted, passwords and logins become impervious to being discovered over a network, thus improving filer security. Anything sent to or from any console session or remote shell session is encrypted.

How you use SecureAdmin

You can use SecureAdmin only for administrative tasks. Although all information exchanged between a filer and a client is encrypted, because you cannot write files directly to the filer, SecureAdmin can protect only logins and passwords.

Available only in the U.S. and Canada

SecureAdmin is available only in the U.S. and Canada. Users in other parts of the world cannot install or use SecureAdmin.
