Limitations of this release

Introduction

This release of Data ONTAP has the limitations described below.

Tape device locked after cluster takeover

This limitation applies only to clustered filers.

The tape device on a filer locks and the filer must be rebooted to release the tape device when the following scenario occurs:

• Filer A is performing a dump to a tape device attached to filer B
• Filer A fails
• Filer B takes over for filer A
• Filer A is rebooted
• Filer B gives back control to filer A

In this scenario, the tape device remains locked.

Solution

Reboot filer B to unlock the tape device.

SnapMirror fails due to insufficient memory

This limitation applies only to filers that are licensed for SnapMirror.

When volumes are being mirrored and the destination filer has less memory than the source filer, the mirror process might fail when the destination volume is brought on line and an error message might be displayed indicating that the destination filer has insufficient memory.

Solution

If you encounter this problem, add memory to the destination filer to ensure that it has an amount of memory similar to the source filer.
