Chapter 8

Cluster Configuration Check

Checking the cluster filer configuration

Matching filer configurations

When configuring filers as partners in a clustered environment, parameters, configuration files, licenses, and network interfaces must match. In this way, when a partner filer takes over for the failed filer, it appears the same as the failed filer.

After you have configured both filers, use the following tables to ensure that both filers match in their configuration.

Parameter matching

Compare the output of the options command for both filers in the cluster to ensure that each option has the same value in both filers.

options command options that must match
cifs.show_snapshot
dns.domainname
dns.enable
http.admin.enable
httpd.timeout
httpd.timewait.enable
vol.copy.throttle
ip.path_mtu_discovery.enable
nfs.per_client_stats.enable
nfs.v2.df.2gb.lim
nfs.v3.enable
nis.domainname

wafl.maxdirsize
wafl.root_only_chown
cf.timed.enable
Other parameters that must match

NDMP on or off
ndmpd {on|off}

Configuration file matching

The following files must have identical contents:

License matching

Licenses must match on both filers. For each feature you want, you must purchase a separate license for each filer. Fill in the license codes for your filers in the following table.
