Worksheet 1: Host name and interfaces

About this worksheet

This worksheet contains information about your filer's host name and its interfaces.

The worksheet contains four sections of interface information:

Complete the sections for the interfaces that your filer uses.

Host name

The host name is a unique 1- to 32-character name that uses only alphanumeric characters and hyphens.

Note: If you purchased a license for the CIFS protocol and want to use the same host name for both NFS and CIFS, select a name of 1- to 15- characters.

Virtual interfaces

Complete this section only if you plan to use virtual interfaces with your filer. You can define up to 32 virtual interfaces. Each virtual interface must have a 1- to 15-character name, and can be defined as a single or multiple virtual interface. For each virtual interface, enter a name, the number of links, and the link names.

Ethernet interfaces

Filers can contain a maximum of 31 interfaces. The interface names in this table are assigned by setup automatically.

For a single filer only

You do not need to fill out the partner IP addresses; they are for a cluster configuration only.

For a cluster configuration only

Fill in the host's IP addresses and subnet masks, fill in the partner's IP addresses that the host can take over, and record the host's interface names when setup runs.
