Setting up and starting SecureAdmin

Description

Use this procedure to set up and start SecureAdmin. It generates a host key and a server key, which are used in encrypting the key used during a session. You complete this procedure after you install SecureAdmin.

Prerequisites

You can accept the default sizes of 768 bits for the host key and 512 bits for the server key, or supply a size for the host key and a size for the server key, as described in "Host and server key properties." The keys can range from 384 through 1,024 bits. The keys must differ by at least 128 bits.

Steps

To set up and start SecureAdmin, complete these steps.

Step Action
1 Enter the following command:
secureadmin setup
Result
The SecureAdmin setup program starts.
2 When prompted, enter a size for the host key.
3 When prompted, enter a size for the server key.
4 When prompted, confirm the parameters that you specified.
Result
SecureAdmin generates the host key in the background, and, after a minute or two, the setup program sends a syslog message that announces that SSH Setup is done.
5 After the syslog message is generated, make the keys take effect by entering the following command:
secureadmin enable ssh
