This procedure creates a Diagnostics diskette from the CD-ROM using a UNIX host.
Use the following table to create the Diagnostics diskette from a UNIX host.
Step
Action
|---|
1
Insert the CD-ROM in the UNIX host's CD-ROM drive.
2
Mount the CD-ROM (some UNIX hosts do this automatically when the CD-ROM is inserted into the drive; others require the use of the mount command. Consult the documentation for your system, if necessary).
3
Insert a blank, write-enabled 1.44 MB diskette into the UNIX hosts's diskette drive. (In this example, assume the CD is mounted at "/cdrom").
4
Copy the update image to the diskette:
Using the dd command, specify the input file, output file, and block size using the following command syntax:
dd if=/cdrom/<file> of=/dev/fd0 bs=512
Where <file> is the file name of the diskette image file on the CD-ROM.
Replace /dev/fd0 with the device name of your diskette drive if it is not /dev/fd0.
5
Remove the diskette from the diskette drive, write-protect it, and label the diskette appropriately, including the filer model.
