About connecting the disk shelves  

This section describes how to connect the DS14 to a supported storage appliance. The procedures also describe the options available for cabling the LRC B on the DS14, if the DS14 is not used in a clustered filer system. The following options are possible:

• Cabling a DS14 to a storage appliance that has an FC-AL adapter with a single copper interface
• Cabling a single DS14 or the first DS14 in a single loop to a filer that has Data ONTAP^TM 6.1 software or later and two FC-AL adapters with single copper interfaces

  Note
  This option enables you to use the software enhancements provided by Data ONTAP 6.1 or later and incorporate redundancy in your filer system.

• Cabling a DS14 to a storage appliance that has an FC-AL adapter with a dual optical interface
