About updating your hardware and software  

After you determine your filer configuration and the software and firmware levels of your hardware, you might need to update those items that are out of date.

Additional hardware adapters you might need  

Depending on the number of disk shelves you have or might add, you might also need additional FC-AL adapters or dual Fibre Channel adapters. You also need to add one cluster interconnect adapter or VI cluster adapter to each filer. See the F800 Series Field Service Guide for more information about adding adapters to your filers.

Required tools and manuals  

You need the following tools and manuals to convert your filers into a cluster:

• The F800 Series Hardware Guide
• The F800 Series Field Service Guide
• The System Administrator's Guide
• The appropriate disk shelf hardware guide
• #1 and #2 Phillips screwdrivers
