Step 3: Updating the firmware and checking the new disk shelf

To complete the addition of your new disk shelf, update the firmware as needed, and check the new disk shelf, complete the following steps.

1	Check the firmware versions on the new disk shelf by entering the following command from the local node: sysconfig -v
2	If the disk firmware...	Then...
	Does not match the existing disk shelf firmware	Go to Step 3.
	Matches the existing disk shelf firmware	Go to Step 4.
	Cannot be seen on the new disk shelf	Go to Step 5: Completing setup and testing your cluster for troubleshooting information.
3	If you are running...	Then...
	Data ONTAP 6.1 or earlier	Update your disk firmware as described in Updating disk firmware, Data ONTAP 6.1 and earlier.
	Data ONTAP 6.1.1	Update your disk firmware as described in Updating disk firmware, Data ONTAP 6.1.1, 6.0.3, and later.
4	Reenable negotiated failover in your cluster by entering the following command from the node console: cf nfo enable disk_shelf
