Planning your mirrored cluster
Step 1: Mapping the cluster
Mirror mapping considerations
If you have a clustered system and want to set up a mirrored cluster using synchronous mirroring, you must do the following:
- Determine what volumes you currently have.
- Determine where each volume is located.
- Determine the size of each volume you want to mirror.
- Determine how you will structure your data on the new system by sketching a structure of how the data will look, after you begin storing information on your new cluster.
Mapping your cluster
To map your existing cluster, complete the following steps.
Step
|
Action
|
|
1 |
List all volumes you have on the local node by entering the following command:
vol status -r
Result
All volumes and spare disks are listed.
|
|
2 |
Determine the size of each volume by entering the following command:
vol status -b
Result
The command displays the block size of the volume (in bytes), the RAID volume size, and the WAFL® file system size.
|
|
3 |
Note the size and name of the volumes you want to mirror.
|
|
4 |
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for the partner node.
|
|
5 |
Go to Step 2: Determining your storage requirements.
