Planning your mirrored cluster
Step 2: Determining your storage requirements
Storage considerations
After you determine which volumes you want to mirror and their sizes, you must determine the following:
- The total storage requirements for the volumes you want to mirror
- The types of disks you have in your cluster
- Whether the plexes are the same size and reside on the same size disks
- Whether you need to add storage or move spare disks from one pool to another
Determining your storage requirements
To determine your storage requirements, complete the following steps.
Step
Action
1 |
Sum the bytes of each volume you want to mirror on the local node, then sum the bytes of each volume you want to mirror on the partner node.
2 |
Determine the spare disks in the disk pool on both the local and partner nodes by entering the following command:
sysconfig -r
3 |
Compare the data from Step 1 with that of Step 2 and add disks to the local or partner node disk pools, as required.
4 |
Go to Step 3: Determining your FC-AL requirements.
