Preparing a third-party tape backup device

To prepare a third-party SCSI tape backup device, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Set the SCSI ID on the tape backup device. See the device documentation for instructions about how to set the tape backup ID. Note Do not use SCSI ID 7 for the device, because it is reserved for the SCSI host adapter.
2	Set the ID of your robotic loader for the tape backup device. If you do not have a robotic loader, go to Step 3.
3	Turn off all tape backup devices and go to Connecting a third-party tape backup device.
