Required installation tools and equipment  

To install the filer components in a square-hole four-post rack or as a freestanding tower, you need the following tools and equipment:

• #2 Phillips screwdriver
• Marker
• Antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash

  Note
  The F85 is designed to be installed in a 19-inch, four-post equipment rack, or as a freestanding tower. Contact Network Appliance Customer Support if your rack is different, or if you have questions about your rack.

  Caution
  The filer uses electronic components that are sensitive to static electricity. Static discharge from your clothing or other fixtures around you can damage these components. Wear an antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash to free yourself of static electricity before touching any electronic components.

The following table lists additional documentation you might need to help to manage your F85.

Required equipment for configuration  

To configure your system, you need the following equipment:

• Network Appliance supports the following console/terminal devices:
  • ASCII terminal (also referred to as an ANSI terminal)
  • Serial concentrator
  • Communications server

    Note
    See the documentation for your serial concentrator or communications server for configuration information.

• Null modem cable (optional)

  Note
  You might need a null modem cable if the DB-9 to DB-9 serial cable for an ASCII terminal connection is not compatible with your terminal connector.
