Examples of the dump command

Backup of a directory from a snapshot

Directory backup from a snapshot  Top

From the weekly snapshot, the following command performs a level-0 backup of the /vol/vol1/home/users directory:

dump 0f rst0a /vol/vol1/.snapshot/weekly.0/home/users

The elements of this command line are described in the following table.

Meaning

0

Do a full backup.

f

A tape device is supplied in the command line.

rst0a

The tape drive rewinds.

/vol/vol1/.snapshot/weekly.0/home/users

This is the directory to be backed up.
