You can accomplish some tasks for managing CIFS file access from the Data ONTAP command line or from the Windows NT Server Manager or User Manager. This chapter describes both methods of accomplishing these tasks. This chapter assumes that you know how to start Server Manager or User Manager to access your filer.
Note
You can also accomplish the tasks described in this chapter using other Windows server management tools, such as Microsoft Management Console.
The procedures for managing the filer through Server Manager and User Manager are similar to those for managing a Windows server. If you are familiar with Server Manager and User Manager, you might not need to read the procedures involving them. The procedures in this chapter give detailed steps where there are differences between managing a filer and managing a Windows server.
Unlike text you type at the Data ONTAP command line, text you type in Server Manager and User Manager is not case-sensitive. For example, when you specify a volume name in Server Manager, you can type in either lowercase or uppercase letters.
