Timing out idle sessions

About idle sessions  Top

If a user does not have a file opened on the filer, the session is considered idle. By default, Data ONTAP disconnects a session after it has been idle for 1,800 seconds. You can specify the amount of time that elapses before Data ONTAP disconnects an idle session.

If an idle session is disconnected, it will automatically reconnect the next time the client accesses the filer.
