Configuring DAFS with options

Use options to configure DAFS  Top

To configure DAFS, use options.

The DAFS options are shown in the following table.

Option

Description

dafs.auth_none.enable

Enables use of the DAFS AUTH_NONE (no security) authentication. This is disabled (off) by default.

dafs.checksums.enable

Enables use of DAFS-level checksums for DAFS requests and responses. You can override this option on a per-NIC basis using the dafs command.

dafs.default_gid

Sets the default numeric group ID (gid) to be used when DAFS client credentials are supplied as CRED_DEFAULT or AUTH_DEFAULT.

dafs.default_uid

Sets the default numeric user ID (uid) to be used when DAFS client credentials are supplied as CRED_DEFAULT or AUTH_DEFAULT.

dafs.enable

Determines whether the DAFS server starts by default on a filer.

dafs.idle_timeout

Sets the time in seconds that a DAFS session can be idle (no requests made) before it is a candidate for disconnection by the filer. A value of 0 disables the idle timeout mechanism. The default idle timeout is 7200 seconds (2 hours). The maximum idle timeout is 65535 seconds (about 18 hours).

dafs.max_disconnected_sessions

Sets the maximum number of abnormally disconnected client sessions that the DAFS server will save until recovery can be made. If the number of abnormally disconnected client sessions exceeds this limit, the oldest disconnected session is removed.

dafs.max_pending_requests_server

The total number of active concurrent requests.

dafs.max_request_size

Sets the maximum size of a request buffer that a single session can request during session negotiation. Normally, you should not change this value from the default, but it can be set to allow (or disallow) clients with exceptionally large DAFS requests to execute. The value, expressed in bytes, limits the total request size, including DAFS operation and generic request headers.

dafs.max_requests

Sets the maximum number of concurrent DAFS requests that a single session can request during session negotiation.

dafs.max_requests_server

The total number of requests that will be queued waiting for a process slot.

dafs.max_response_size

Sets the maximum size of a response buffer that a single session can request during session negotiation. This should not be changed from the default, but you can set it to allow (or disallow) clients with exceptionally large DAFS responses to execute. The value, expressed in bytes, limits the total response size, including DAFS operation and generic response headers.

dafs.num_requestd

Sets the default number of DAFS request-processing servers to start for each NIC. You can override this option on a per-NIC basis using the dafs command.

dafs.percent_memory

The percentage of main memory DAFS is allowed to cache.

dafs.session_reuse_threshold

Sets the minimum number of seconds a DAFS session must be idle before it becomes eligible for disconnection to reclaim resources needed for other active sessions. The value is expressed in seconds. The default is 600. A value of 0 indicates that no session should ever be disconnected.
