Booting and rebooting the filer

Where the filer boots from  Top

The filer boots from the boot diskette in its diskette drive, if there is one. Otherwise, the filer boots from its hard disk.

Booting the filer  Top

You can boot the filer if it has been powered on or if the filer console is displaying the firmware (ok) prompt.

If the filer is powered on and is displaying the command prompt, see the next section, Rebooting the filer.

To boot the filer, complete the following step.

Action

Enter the following command:

Note
If you are booting the filer from diskette, ensure that boot diskette 1 is in the diskette drive. Use of any other diskette results in an error message.

You can reboot the filer if the filer console is displaying the command prompt. Rebooting the filer is equivalent to halting and booting the filer. During a reboot, the contents of the filer's NVRAM are flushed to disk, and the filer sends a warning message to CIFS clients.
