You use the ifstat and the netstat commands to display network interface statistics. The ifstat command displays statistics maintained by the networking code, network adapter, and the network driver. For more information about the netstat command, see the na_netstat(1) man page.
You use the ifstat command to determine the media type setting that is negotiated between the interface of the filer and the link partner.
The output of the ifstat command might contain many fields, because different types of interfaces -- for example, Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, and ATM -- have different statistics. For details of the statistics displayed for each network interface, see Appendix A, Network Interface Statistics.
Displayed statistics are gathered from the time of the last reboot or from the last time you cleared them.
Note
For cluster systems, the ifstat command reflects the filer that is executing the commands, not the partner.
To display or clear interface statistics, complete the following step.
| 1 |
ifstat [-z] -a | interface -z zeros (clears) the statistics. -a lists statistics for all the filer's interfaces. interface indicates the interface for which you want to display or clear statistics. |
For more information about the ifstat command, see the na_ifstat(1) man page.
