Creating LUNs and initiator groups with FilerView

What FilerView is

FilerView is a graphical user interface that you can use to create and manage LUNs and initiator groups and manage FCP and iSCSI service and traffic. After you launch FilerView, you can use the LUN Wizard, or you can use FilerView menus to create LUNs and initiator groups.

Launching FilerView

To launch FilerView, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Open a browser on your host.
2	Enter the name of the filer followed by /na_admin/ as the location for the URL. Example If you have a filer named tpubs-cf1, enter the following URL in the browser: http://tpubs-cf1/na_admin. Result The Network Appliance Online administrative window appears.
3	Click FilerView. Result The FilerView screen appears. The left panel provides a list of Data ONTAP functionality that you manage using FilerView.

Example

Result

The Network Appliance Online administrative window appears.

Click FilerView.

Result

The FilerView screen appears. The left panel provides a list of Data ONTAP functionality that you manage using FilerView.

Using the LUN Wizard

To use the LUN Wizard to create LUNs and initiator groups, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Click LUNs in the left panel of the FilerView screen. Result The management tasks you can perform on LUNs are displayed.
2	Click Wizard. Result The Wizard window appears and explains how to use it.
3	Follow the instructions in the Wizard and enter information in the appropriate fields. Note You can click the online help button (the question mark) to get more information.
4	At the Commit Changes window, review your input. If everything is correct, click Commit. Result The LUN Wizard: Success! window appears and the LUN you created is mapped to the initiator groups you specified.

Using FilerView menus

To create a LUN using FilerView menu, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Launch FilerView.
2	Go to LUNs > Add.
3	Fill in the fields. Note Click the applicable question mark for online help for that field.
4	Click the Add button to commit changes.

Creating LUNs

To create a LUN using FilerView menus, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Launch FilerView.
2	Go to LUNs > Add.
3	Fill in the fields.
4	Click the Add button to commit changes.

Creating initiator groups

To create an initiator group using FilerView menus, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Launch FilerView.
2	Go to Initiator Groups > Add.
3	Fill in the fields.
4	Click the Add button to commit changes.

Mapping LUNs to initiator groups

To map LUNs to initiator groups using FilerView menus, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Launch FilerView.
2	Go to LUNs > Manage.
3	Click "No Maps" in the Maps column that is on the same row as the path name of the LUN.
4	Click the Add Groups to Map link.
5	Select an initiator group name from the list on the right side of the window.
6	Click the Add button to commit the changes.
