Using SyncMirror

What SyncMirror does  Top

The SyncMirror product maintains a single mirrored WAFL volume as two physically separated and synchronously up-to-date copies (called plexes) on disks. The copy remains invisible until you split off the mirrored plex for test purposes, to use the space for other purposes, or if a multiple disk failure occurs within a single RAID group, when the filer automatically switches over access to the mirrored plex. SyncMirror operates identically in SAN and NAS environments.

For more information about SyncMirror, see the SyncMirror chapter in the Data ONTAP 6.4 System Administration Data Protection Guide.
