Required items

To upgrade the filer software to the latest release of Data ONTAP, you need the following items:

The latest version of the firmware for your model of filer. See the NOW site at http://now.netapp.com/NOW/tools/releasetable.shtml.
Note
The F85 and F87 filers use firmware that does not need to be upgraded.
System files. You can get these from the following locations:
- On NOW at http://now.netapp.com
- On the CD-ROM that is supplied in your media package
Data ONTAP system boot diskettes. These are needed only if your filer is
- Running a release of Data ONTAP earlier than 4.0
- Not running at all
  Note
  You do not need system boot diskettes if your filer is running and you are upgrading from Data ONTAP 4.0 or later.
