Destroying a vfiler

Destroying a vfiler has the following effects:

It releases to the hosting filer all resources that are associated with the vfiler. User data contained in the vfiler remains intact after you destroy the vfiler.
All the vfiler's IP addresses are unconfigured and the corresponding entries in the filer's /etc/rc file are removed.
If the vfiler destroyed was not in the same IPspace as the hosting filer, the IP addresses previously owned by the vfiler are not available for use after you destroy the vfiler.
The effects on quotas are the same as when you move resources from a vfiler to the hosting filer. See Considerations for moving resources between vfilers for more information about how moving the resources to the hosting filer affects quotas.

The vfiler must be stopped before you can destroy it.

To destroy a vfiler, complete the following steps.

1	Enter the following command to stop the vfiler: vfiler stop vfiler_name
2	Enter the following command: vfiler destroy [ -f ] vfiler_name Without the `-f` option, the command displays a confirmation prompt. With the `-f` option, the command destroys the vfiler immediately. Result All resources previously owned by the vfiler are returned to the hosting filer.

Without the -f option, the command displays a confirmation prompt. With the -f option, the command destroys the vfiler immediately.

All resources previously owned by the vfiler are returned to the hosting filer.
