How to move a vfiler

When to use this section  Top

Use this section if you want to move a vfiler (that is, the data and the vfiler configuration) from one NetApp appliance to another, for example from a filer that is overloaded to one that has spare capacity, or from an old filer to a new one. This is sometimes called "migrating" a vfiler.

The procedures assume that you want to destroy the original vfiler once the new vfiler is up and running. If you want to leave the original vfiler intact and create a backup copy of it for disaster-recovery purposes, use the procedures listed under How to create and activate a disaster-recovery vfiler instead.
