The Simulator is a fully functional unsupported version of Data ONTAP designed for use in testing and development
environments where NetApp Filers/NearStore appliances aren't readily available or suitable for the
task at hand.
For developers who wish to develop professional interfaces for Filers, NearStore and NetCache appliances the Manage ONTAP program provides details of the available APIs.
