Interpreting hot swap disk loop error messages

About the error messages  Top

A Fabric Attached MetroCluster generates error messages when a disk drive is removed from or added to a disk loop. These messages are informational and require no action from the user.

Messages and descriptions  Top

The following table lists and describes informational error messages you might encounter when removing or inserting a disk into a loop.

Error message

Description

[node1: ispfc_timeout_1:warning]: node2:11.34 (NxN2N2Nbae) (NxN359da8N,Nx28:NN6Ne3dN:N1NN,N/N,4951/N/N,29927/N): command timeout, quiescing drive to allow outstanding I/O to complete.

When the disk drive is pulled from the bay, data flow to all drives in the loop is interrupted. The error message indicates that the data flow was interrupted and the system is trying to reestablish contact with that loop.

[node1: ispfc_timeout_1:error]: node2:11.34 (NxN2N2Nbae): global device timer timeout, initiating device recovery.

The system is attempting to recover from the data flow interruption.

[node1: scsi.cmd.abortedByHost:error]: Device node2:11.34: Command aborted by host adapter: HA status Nx4: cdb Nx28:NN6Ne3dN:N1NN.

The current command to the drive loop is aborted. The system is continuing to recover the drive loop.

[node1: scsi.cmd.retrySuccess:info]: Device deadhead:11.39: request successful after retry #1: cdb Nx28:N162416N:N1NN.

Contact has been reestablished with the disk loop.

[node1: ses_admin:info]: initiating rescan on channel deadhead:11

The system is scanning the disk loops to determine what has been added or removed.

[node1: raid.disk.inserted:info]: Disk deadhead:11.72 (S/N 3HZNL8HLNNNN7323DX8A) has been inserted into the system

The system found a new disk drive added to the loop.
