Connecting the disk shelves to AC power

About AC power supplies  Top

The disk shelf is shipped with two power supplies with integrated fan units and an AC power cord for each power supply. These power supplies are keyed, to prevent inserting the wrong power supply into the disk shelf. The power supplies are labeled PSU1 and PSU2, respectively.

Connecting and powering on the R200 disk shelves  Top

To connect each disk shelf to an AC power source and power it on, complete the following steps.

Step

Action

1

Make sure that the storage engine and the disk shelves are turned off.

2

Plug the power cord for PSU1 into the power receptacle on the right connector (rear view).

3

Plug the power cord for PSU2 into the power receptacle on the left connector (rear view).

4

Plug the other end of each power cord into separate grounded AC power sources.

Caution
To obtain power supply redundancy, make sure that you connect the second power supply to a separate AC circuit.

5

Fasten the power cord with the clamp.

6

Turn the power switch of each power supply to the On position.

Result

The disk shelf lights illuminate, indicating system activity.

Note
The default spin-up time for all disks in the disk shelf is 60 seconds. Reduce this spin-up time to 20 seconds by turning on the switches of both power supplies within 5 seconds of each other.

7

Make sure that the following LEDs illuminate:

  • Front panel LEDs
  • Power supply LEDs

The LED responses are described in Disk shelf LED responses at startup.

Note
If the LEDs do not illuminate, contact Network Appliance Technical Support.
