By default, automatic disk scrubbing is enabled for once a week and begins at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday. However, you can modify this schedule to suit your needs.
If you want to reschedule the default weekly disk scrubbing time of 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, you can specify the day, time, and duration of one or more alternative disk scrubbings for the week. To schedule weekly disk scrubbings, complete the following steps.
| 1 |
options raid.scrub.schedule
duration{h|m}@weekday@start_time
[,duration{h|m}@weekday@start_time] ...
duration {h|m} is the amount of time, in hours (h) or minutes (m) that you want to allot for this operation. Note weekday is the day of the week (sun, mon, tue, wed, thu, fri, sat) when you want the operation to start. start_time is the hour of the day you want the scrub to start. Acceptable values are 0-23, where 0 is midnight and 23 is 11 p.m. ExampleThe following command schedules two weekly RAID scrubs. The first scrub is for four hours every Tuesday at 2 a.m. The second scrub is for eight hours every Saturday at 10 p.m. options raid.scrub.schedule 240m@tue@2,8h@sat@22 |
| 2 | Verify your modification with the following command: options raid.scrub.schedule The duration, weekday, and start times for all your scheduled disk scrubs appear. Note |
To enable and disable automatic disk scrubbing for the filer, complete the following step.
| 1 |
options raid.scrub.enable off | on |
You can set the duration of automatic disk scrubbing. The default is to perform automatic disk scrubbing for six hours (360 minutes). If scrubbing does not finish in six hours, Data ONTAP records where it stops. The next time disk scrubbing automatically starts, scrubbing starts from the point where it stopped.
To set the duration of automatic disk scrubbing, complete the following step.
Note
If an automatic disk scrubbing is scheduled through the options raid.scrub.schedule command, the duration specified for the raid.scrub.duration option applies only if no duration was specified for disk scrubbing in the options raid.scrub.schedule command.
You can use your UNIX or CIFS host to start a disk scrubbing operation at any time. For example, you can start disk scrubbing by putting disk scrub start into a remote shell command in a UNIX cron script.
To start and stop disk scrubbing manually, complete the following step.
| 1 |
disk scrub start|stop Use start to initiate disk scrubbing on all RAID groups regardless of the setting of the raid.scrub.enable option. |
