Before You Upgrade: What Is Required

About this chapter

This chapter contains information to help you ensure that your filers meet the requirements for upgrading to the new version of Data ONTAP. Additionally, this chapter provides information about some issues you might encounter during an upgrade. Because new features are introduced in each release of Data ONTAP, you might encounter issues when upgrading, especially if you are not upgrading from the immediately previous version of Data ONTAP.

Information about bug fixes

For a list of bugs fixed in this release, access Bugs Online by completing the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Use a Web browser to go to http://now.netapp.com/cgi-bin/bol/.
2	Click Service & Support.
3	Click Access Software Bug Tools.

D or P patches might not be included

Data ONTAP 6.5.1 might not contain all the bug fixes in preceding D or P patch releases.

Caution
If your filer is running a patch release, compare the bug fixes for this release to the bug fixes for your patch release to determine whether you should upgrade. For information about these bug fixes, see Bugs Online at http://now.netapp.com/cgi-bin/bol/.
