You can enter the snapmirror command from the hosting filer only, not from a vFiler. However, you can use the SnapMirror feature on any qtree or volume on the filer, whether the qtree or volume is owned by a vFiler or the hosting filer.
The procedure for using the snapmirror command for data on a vFiler is the same as that for data on a filer.
When typing a filer name in a path name in the /etc/snapmirror.conf file, be sure to use the name of the filer, not the name of a vFiler, even though the path name is for a storage unit in a vFiler.
