Step 3: Determining your FC-AL requirements

When you set up your cluster for mirroring, you should consider the following:

The type and number of FC-AL adapters you have in your system
Where the FC-AL adapters are located in your cluster.
Disk pool 0 volumes are cabled to FC-AL or dual Fibre Channel adapters located in filer slots 3 through 7, if available. Disk Pool 1 volumes are cabled to FC-AL or dual Fibre Channel adapters in filer slots 8 and 9. No single FC-AL should become a single point of failure.
If you are converting a cluster into a mirrored cluster, whether you need to add more FC-AL adapters to spread them across disk pools

To determine your FC-AL requirements, complete the following steps.

Step	Action
1	Determine how many disk pools you have for each filer. You should have no more than one disk pool per filer for the local node. You should also have one disk pool for the partner node on the local node side.
2	Determine the number of FC-AL adapters you have and install any additional adapters you need. See the Field Service Guide for installation instructions.
