Overview of the field-replaceable units

About field-replaceable units  

You can remove and install F85 field-replaceable units in the field. You must purchase all field-replaceable units from Network Appliance or an authorized reseller.

Units that you can individually replace  

You can replace the following units in the F85 in the field:

• Control panel assembly
• Expansion adapters
  • NVRAM III (nonvolatile random access memory) adapter
  • SCSI adapter for tape drive backup
  • SCSI adapters for the SDS12
  • Network interface cards (NICs)
• Batteries
  • NVRAM lead-acid battery
  • Motherboard lithium battery
• SCSI backplane board
• Motherboard DIMMs
• Chassis fan subassemblies
• CPU and heat sink assembly
• 3.5-inch diskette drive assembly
• SCSI disk drives
• Power supplies
• Power supply distribution board
• filer bezels for rack mounted or tower systems
• Motherboard without DIMMs

Units that you cannot individually replace  

You cannot individually replace the onboard 10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet interface on the motherboard; you must replace the motherboard.
