Equipment you should receive with the filer

In addition to this guide, your filer shipment contains the following components:

The filer and bezel
The appropriate number of disk drives, installed in the filer
A DB-9 to DB-9 straight-through serial cable for your ASCII terminal connection, if ordered
One, 2M SCSI cable for SCSI tape or other SCSI backup device
A disposable antistatic grounding leash
The appropriate rack installation kit, if you ordered your filer for rack installation

Equipment you should receive for equipment rack installation

The filer can be installed into a standard 19-inch, square hole, four-post equipment rack. It can also be installed in a two-post or four-post, round hole equipment rack. However, these racks must be converted to a 19-inch, square hole, four-post equipment rack before the filer can be installed. The following table lists the components you need to install the filer in a 19-inch, square hole, four-post equipment rack and to convert other equipment racks to the standard rack.

Required tools

To install the filer components in an equipment rack or as a tower system, you need the following tools and equipment:

Marker
Hand level
Antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash
Caution
The filer has electronic components that are sensitive to static electricity. Static discharge from your clothing or other fixtures can damage these components. Always wear an antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash to prevent static discharge.

Required configuration equipment

To configure your system, you need the following equipment on site:

ASCII terminal (also referred to as an ANSI terminal)
Serial console
Communications server
Null modem cable (optional if the DB-9 to DB-9 serial cable for an ASCII terminal connection is not compatible with your terminal connector.)
