Channel B loop cabling differences

The procedure for cabling the Channel B loops for a standard cluster and mirrored cluster are different. These differences are described in the following sections.

Cabling the Channel B loops in a standard cluster

To cable the Channel B loops in a standard cluster, complete the following steps, using the diagram for reference.

Step	Action
1	Cable the dual-port FC-AL adapter in slot 2, Port 1 of the local node, to the partner node disk shelf 1 LRC/ESH Input port.
2	Cable the local node's disk shelf 1 Channel B LRC/ESH Output port to the local node's disk shelf 2 Channel B LRC/ESH Input port. Label this cable with a striped label.
3	Repeat Step 2 for the remaining disk shelves in the loop.
4	Set the terminate switches to Off on all but the last disk shelf in the loop, then set the terminate switch on the last disk shelf to On.
5	Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the partner node.
6	Go to Chapter 4, Configuring the Cluster.

Cabling the Channel B loops in a mirrored cluster

To cable the Channel B loops in a mirrored cluster, complete the following steps, using the diagram for reference.

Step	Action
1	Cable the dual-port FC-AL adapter in slot 8, Port 1 of the local node, to the partner node disk shelf 1 LRC/ESH Input port of disk pool 1, then cable the dual-port FC-AL adapter in slot 5, Port 1 of the local node to the partner node disk shelf 1 LRC/ESH Input port of disk pool 0.
2	Cable the local node's disk shelf 1 Channel B LRC/ESH Output port to the local node's disk shelf 2 Channel B LRC/ESH Input port. Label this cable with a striped label.
3	Repeat Step 2 for the remaining disk shelves in the loop.
4	Set the terminate switches to Off on all but the last disk shelf in the loop, then set the terminate switch on the last disk shelf to On.
5	Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the partner node.
6	Go to Chapter 4, Configuring the Cluster.
