Updating Data ONTAP

Updating Data ONTAP with node and disk firmware

To update Data ONTAP, node firmware, disk firmware, and shelf firmware on each node, complete the following steps.

Caution
If you are converting a cluster to a Fabric Attached MetroCluster, do not recable the system before updating Data ONTAP and firmware.

Step	Action
1	Back up the data on both nodes. See the System Administrator's Guide for backup instructions.
2	Verify that both nodes have network connections and that `httpd.admin.enable` is set to On for both nodes.
3	Download and untar the most current version of Data ONTAP to both nodes, from http://now.netapp.com/NOW/cgi-bin/software/ on the NOW Web site.
4	Download and run the Data ONTAP Upgrade Utility from http://now.netapp.com/NOW/download/tools/upgrade_ontap on the NOW Web site. Follow the directions to run this script.
