Removing a disk from a disk shelf

Enter one of the following commands, as appropriate:

• disk fail disk_name
• disk remove disk_name

Either command causes the yellow drive status LED on the disk to illuminate. For more information about LEDs, see Disk shelf LED responses at startup

Wait 30 seconds for the disk to stop spinning.

Put on the antistatic wrist strap and grounding leash.

To remove the disk, press down on its release mechanism. The drive handle is spring loaded and springs open after you depress the latch. Gently slide the disk out of the disk shelf.

Caution
When removing a disk, always use two hands to support its weight.
